Roberto Forzoni
Juice – The Smoothest, Coolest & Funkiest Grooves!
Show Time: Friday 1 – 3pm
Roberto loves music. He started DJ’ing in the late 70-‘s and his passion for soul music and in radio broadcasting led him to take a radio production course at London’s Morley College; he was fascinated with the intimate nature of radio after being addicted to stations like Radio Luxemburg and memories of listening to music under the bedsheets as a teenager! In his late twenties he became addicted to the exciting underground world of London’s pirate radio scene in the 80[s, and joined that scene with stints on TKO (Total Knock Out), CD93, London City Radio and then the ultimate dream, Solar Radio .These were massively exciting times and pirate radio was the only broadcast outlet playing this type of music, that was running through inner cities around the country . The following seemed huge back then as London tuned in on FM radio. Now we are worldwide!
In 1987 he purchased a nightclub in Chelsea’s Kings Road, called (ironically) Roberto’s and hosted a number of fantastic parties including Alexander O Neal’s and The Jene’s Girls after concert parties. When the Club lease expired in 1997, Roberto pursued his other passion of coaching and psychology, working at a number of clubs over the years including Crystal Palace FC, Brentford FC, Brighton, Charlton Athletic FC, Southampton and West Ham United During this time (and still today) he is a regular contributor for BBC News, SKY and other major news networks as a performance psychology consultant.
Around 2013 he returned to Solar Radio where he hooed up again with Tony Monson and Keith, Mike Gee and the now sadly departed legends Les Adams and Dave Gregory (both of whom were huge influences on him).;after some moths of filling in for various presenters Roberto was offered the Friday lunchtime (1-3pm) slot and aired Juice, where he plays an eclectic mix of soul, neosoul, lounge and soulful house.
Over the years a number of artist have joined the show, including Lori Williams, Daisy Hicks Letizia Gambi, GG, and many more.
Roberto is still a huge fan of Solar Radio and feels proveleged to be a continual part of the Journey.
