Chris Dinnis

Bless My Soul

Sunday 2 – 4pm

Chris Dinnis has had an extraordinary career.  He’s worked in radio for over 40 years, in fact at one point he had 1 of the top 3 most listened to radio shows in the UK.  That career has seen him interview everyone from Beyonce to Gladys Knight.  Chris also co hosted an 8 part soul show with Joss Stone entitled Peace Love & Music.  He’s performed in front of the royal family, hosted many stadium gigs inc ‘an audience with Michael Jackson’, produced a sell out comedy CD & he was the inflight voice of Fly Be.

However his obsession has always been soul & jazz, first playing it in the clubs in 1977 & those live gigs & record collecting never stopped.  Chris is most famed for his residencies at Boxes & Monroes in Devon, both nationally acclaimed.  From the 80’s Chris was a feature on many all dayers & weekenders all over the UK, often working with members of the funk mafia as he did on the Caister spin off Perran Sands in 1982 & the Showstoppers Treasure Island All Dayer.  It wasn’t long before Chris was featuring on the Bournemouth Weekender and indeed Caister itself.  Later Chris was to be part of the Southport Weekender and recently Chris has been a fixture on the Cotswold Park Soul Weekend.  In the 80’s Chris also wrote regularly for Blues & Soul and Groove Weekly. From the end of the 70’s to today he has played a big part in keeping soul & jazz alive in the South West as detailed in Snowboy’s book ’The History Of The UK Jazz Dance Scene’. Finally, a while back Chris presented a series of guest shows for Solar so he’s delighted to return, but this time with his own programme helping to make Sundays on Solar unmissable.
