Soul Vault

The Show Soul Vault is Rare & Underplayed Soul with some Club Classics, There is so much great music that does not get played. So I look for tracks that hopefully open the ears of my listeners to this great music. I love all Styles & Genre’s of Soul & Jazz. I really love 60’s 70’s and early 80’s Soul & Jazz. I Love being musically educated by other DJ’s. lucky enough to have travelled to the USA and met many of my hero’s. I have DJ’d at Bilbao Soul Weekender & Blackpool International Soul Festival, among others. My All time favourite track The Pockets Come Go With Me.

Influenced by my Brother buying records, My ears were drawn to Motown & Stax records he was buying.
At the age of 7 I got my Mum to buy me The Supremes Baby Love. Then a friend’s brother played a James Brown track Cold Sweat that was it I was Hooked. Went to a local Youth Club where 2 DJ’s Jok Evans and Dave Tolehurst played great Soul Music. Built my own DJ unit and started DJing at the age of 15. Then Started buying imports from Tony Monson’s shop in Brighton and going to clubs like the Inn Place & Revolution in Brighton, Painted Wagon Seaford & The Pier in Eastbourne. DJed around the Brighton Eastbourne Area at various clubs like Third World & Dixieland Show Bar. Tuned in to Robbie Vincent & Greg Edwards, Went with a friend to the legendary Wigan Casino in 1978 which blew my mind and saw Richard Searling. Started going to Allnighters and Alldayers and went to the 1st Caister in 1979. Travelled around to various clubs to get my fix of the music like The Royality, Flicks etc.
Carried on listening to and buying in the 80’s while raising my son but stopped going to clubs. Then when I met Sue it rekindled my love of the music and she encouraged me to start DJing again. Spent 2 years with Ramjam Radio (Sunshine Coast Soul Show) 6 years with Sound Fusion Radio.net (Just Jazz, Award Winning show Best Podcast Award by Jazz Evangelist Magazine) (Soul Vault, Soul Survivors Top 10 nominated show 2016 coming 3rd behind Ash Selector) which brought me to Solar Radio.
