An eclectic mix of the best new Soul and R&B music, with a healthy smattering of heritage soul, jazz funk, and 80’s boogie.

When it comes to soul music, there isn’t much that Phil ‘Phillo’ Nugent hasn’t experienced.
Since the mid 80’s he has been involved in all aspects of soul music, artist management, record labels, production companies, promoter and DJ working with an array of local and international artists over the years.
He went on to promote club nights and to also DJ alongside stalwarts like the late Derek Boland, CJ Carlos, Martin Collins, Simon Goff and Trevor “Madhatter” Nelson. He also promoted live events and in September 1989, along with a few friends, he staged the Trans Atlantic Jazz Carnival featuring Jean Carne, Lonnie Liston Smith, Norman Conners and Ronnie Lawes with a full band at the Hammersmith Odeon, London. In the 90’s, he was part of the team that brought Jive Records, recording artist Joe to London for the first time at Brixton Academy, and also Hi Five and Lo-Key at the Hammersmith Palais.
He launched his first record label Pantrax in 1988, and went on to record, produce, release and remix work via his Full Crew production company and various record label imprints including ARP, Diesel, Diverse and worked with artists such as The Jones Girls, Beverley Knight, Kreuz, Destiny’s Child, Roachford, Mariah Carey, Craig David, Shola Ama, George Michael and many more.
As a DJ, he was a resident fixture for 7 years at the St Lucia Jazz Festival, spinning tunes at different venues. He was also a resident at The 02 Ultimate Boogie Nights, and compered and co-hosted nights with legendary acts performing live including Teena Marie, Maze and The Fatback Band.
He has presented radio shows on various stations over the years, initially on Studio FM which was a Hackney based pirate, Romford’s Time 107.5, Stomp Radio, Crackers Radio and Centreforce 883.
