Renna McDonagh

The Saturday Shakedown

6 – 8pm

Radio was something Renna always wanted to do ever since being invited to visit Chiltern Radio, The Hot FM, way back in the late 80s. He would do gigs at corporate venues throughout Oxfordshire and the South East, before working in various bars and nightclubs including The Rio which was big on the soul scene, and commercial venues such as Chicago Rock Café and Yate’s.

He then got the opportunity to work on radio in the South Coast, initially behind the scenes producing audio. This led to further radio stints closer to home at Jack FM, Zero Radio, and more recently Solar Radio. Initially working with his good friend Les “Mixdoctor” Adams on the Two Hour Takeover where Renna helped produce the show sound and soon after Renna covered most shifts on Solar, including Sunrise, Drive, and the coveted Saturday evening 8-10 pm slot.

Renna also ran a radio station in Surrey with his partner in crime Nick Ratcliffe. In addition he provided technical support to remote-based radio presenters during the pandemic too, so I guess you could say he was busy!

Renna can now be heard on his new monthly show, The Saturday Shakedown, from 6 until 8pm on the last Saturday of the month, and sometimes pops up elsewhere in the schedule!
