SUNDAY 2 – 4am

Latest Disco Soul & Nu Disco Re Edits

The sound of funk and whistles blew me away.  Needing to hear more of this fantastic music I started to scan the airwaves and found JFM Radio. Soul music all day Sundays became a ritual of being up in my bedroom with my finger on the pause button ready to record the latest soul music, I was only 13 at this time. My first 12’’ was War- You Got the power & my first album was Slipstream Best of British Jazz Funk.  A year later I was off to the Ilford Town Hall where the Late Froggy was on the decks.
My first DJing experience was with a borrowed pair of Garrard decks in a hall full of 16-year-olds. I did a few of these in my final year at school. After leaving School the weekends were all about finding bars & clubs that had soul on offer. This was becoming harder as the House Scene was starting to arrive, DJing while watching my mates have fun wasn’t for me at this stage so I just enjoyed being a punter.  Caister was a regular then Prestatyn & Pwllheli. Then the great Southport weekenders of the 90’s.   All the way through this time expanding my Record / CD collection, Soul, Swing, R&B,Rap and a touch of Jazz as they say.
Then we jump forward a bit to when I met up with the old Stomp FM boys and joined the team For the Launch of I did a Regular Friday Drivetime show THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE for just over a year.  My Passion to be on the FM got the Better of me so with a couple of pals went off to form Back2back FM.  Broadcasting 24/7 across London in our first we achieved 7 months non-stop. With nearly 40 DJs on the team. Still presenting my Friday drivetime show plus others as well. Anyone in the trade knows this isn’t an easy task. Throughout most of this time I had a regular Soul night at Hollands Wine Bar in Essex & on and off I’m still there today.
I still love my Classic Soul music but the Latest Disco Soul & Nu Disco Re Edits give me the buzz that I had in the 80’s & I’m now thrilled to be part of the Solar team.
